Property fun

Things worth doing without getting in the car.

Some of this is ready now and some is coming — we will keep this page honest about which is which.

Walk the property

By the end of August 2026 the property will have a proper path down to the bottom, a path that loops around the property, and a path down to the creek. A full lap running north–south and east–west works out to roughly 600 to 700 yards, which makes a genuinely pleasant walking or hiking loop — do a few laps with coffee in the morning and you have had a real walk without leaving home.

The creek

At the creek entrance you can sit down and put your ankles in the water, which is about as good as a summer afternoon gets. It is also a great spot for skipping rocks, letting kids splash around, or running RC boats.

The waterfall

Sitting by the waterfall is genuinely peaceful and worth the walk down. A proper bench is on the list for a future season — for now, bring a camp chair if you want to stay a while.

Stargazing

The stars here are insane. Turn off every light on the property, give your eyes fifteen minutes to adjust, and you will see millions of them. If you own a telescope, bring it — this is the kind of sky you bought it for.

Go karts & ATVs

You are welcome to bring go karts or ATVs and run them anywhere on the property, the lower section included. Use is entirely at your own risk. Cars and trucks are the exception — see the rules below.

BB & pellet guns

BB guns and pellet guns are fine for the kids, with normal adult supervision. Firearms are not — see the rules below.

Before you head out

A few practical things.

Wear the right boots

The lower part of the property can be wet and muddy. Hiking boots or muck boots are the right call if you plan to wander. And be aware of snakes — we have yet to see a single one out there, but this is rural Pennsylvania woodland and it pays to watch where you step.

Know where the edges are

The southern boundary is marked by a small creek and drainage. The northern boundary is our neighbor's, marked with purple paint on the trees and no-trespassing signs — in Pennsylvania, purple paint carries the same legal weight as a posted sign. On the west, the far side of the creek is not our land either.

Non-negotiable

Five rules. Please take them seriously.

These are not house-style suggestions. Breaking them ends a stay and gets a guest banned from rebooking.

Do not take a car or truck to the bottom

The lower section is where the owner processes trees into firewood, and road vehicles tear it up. No cars or trucks down there — doing it will get you banned.

Go karts and ATVs are fine, and so is walking. This rule is about cars.

Do not bring firearms

There is a gun range on the property. It is for the owner's use only. Guests shooting firearms here is a serious liability and is not permitted under any circumstances. BB guns and pellet guns for the kids are fine.

Do not cross the creek

The far side of the creek is not our property. Crossing it is trespassing on someone else's land. Same goes for heading north past the purple-painted trees and no-trespassing signs.

Leave it exactly as you found it

Do not pollute the creek or the woods. Pack out all of your trash and leave the area as pristine as you found it. Littering out there results in a ban — this land is the whole reason people come here, and we intend to keep it that way.

Stay away from the old chicken coop

There is an old chicken coop on the property. It is not safe to poke around in and it is coming down at some point. Please keep clear of it, kids especially.

Coming to the property

What we are adding.

The land is a work in progress and it gets a little better every season.

Trails — late August 2026

A cut path to the bottom, a loop around the property, and a dedicated path down to the creek.

A picnic table

Somewhere down near the creek, so lunch outside does not have to mean carrying everything back up.

A pavilion

A future project — covered space down at the bottom of the property for shade and rain.

A bench at the waterfall

The one spot on the property that most deserves somewhere comfortable to sit.

Questions about the land

Ask before you head out.

If you are not sure whether something is allowed or where a boundary runs, message us through the platform you booked on. We would much rather answer a question than have an awkward conversation afterward.
